KEF gets strategic insights and direction from an eminent board with a wealth of accumulated experience in institution building and management.  The Board provides insights from the business, finance, education, and social sectors to help the Foundation reach its stated objectives.


Mr. Ajay G. Piramal ( Chairman of Piramal Group )


Mr. Ajay Piramal is the Chairman of Piramal Group and Shriram Group that has a combined market cap of USD 13.12 billion and revenue of USD 4.53 billion. He is one of India's leading industrialists, philanthropists and social entrepreneurs. Mr. Piramal holds several key positions on the Boards of various prestigious regulatory, professional and academic institutions including Harvard Business School's Board of Dean's Advisors, non-executive Director of Tata Sons Ltd. and the President and Chairman of the Governing Body of Anant National University and Chairman of Pratham Education Foundation. Mr. Piramal holds an Honours Degree in Science from Bombay University, and a Masters Degree in Management Studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He has also completed an Advanced Management Programme from Harvard Business School. Mr. Piramal has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Philosophy (D. Phil) by Amity University, India.



Aditya Natraj ( CEO– Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership )


Mr Natraj is the founder of KEF and currently oversees development of 1400 school leaders, 4200 district leaders and 1200 state leaders across 15 states to effect systemic change and improve student learning outcomes. KEF also runs the Gandhi Fellowship programme – a 2 year full-time programme to train young people in leading social change, with 1000+ Fellows and Alumni. Previously, he worked with a range of corporate consulting firms like KPMG to World Bank and headed Pratham Gujarat Operations. Mr Natraj has been awarded various fellowship and awards, namely the Ashoka Fellowship, Echoing Green Fellowship, Aspen India Fellowship and the Times Now Amazing Indian award in the Education category.  He is a Bachelor in Commerce, Master in Economics, Chartered Accountant and an MBA from INSEAD.


Madhav Chavan ( CEO, Pratham )


Madhav Chavan is a social activist and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of the educational non-profit, Pratham. He also started the Read India campaign, which aims to teach basic reading, writing and arithmetic to underprivileged children across India. Pratham has been recognized by the Kravis Prize and the Skoll Award for its innovativeness and leadership as a social entrepreneurial organization in the area of education. Chavan was the 2012 recipient of the WISE Prize for Education, which is widely considered the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in the field of education and recipient of Leading-Social-Contributor-Award which is the highest degree award in India for exemplary work in the area of operation. He was also the 2011 recipient of the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship.
